I’m certainly no fan of mathematics but we constantly have to face it. It’s probably the most important logical aspect of life which determines the future. However, this brilliant tool of life is vulnerable. I’ve known many people who learn every single formula and calculation only to take a years trip across the world and forget it all. I must confess, to an extent my mathematical brain isn’t as sharp as it used to be a few years ago. However, unlike others I’m not panicking (yet) as I’ve recently discovered a new (well old depending on what context you want to put it in) approach to mathematics. Vedic mathematics!

I’m surprised this method isn’t taught in our public schools. It’s very easy to remember and learn. Vedic math has some similarities to the Trachtenberg system and many of the arithmetic computational strategies are based on the same concepts. An online book by Kenneth R. Williams is available here.
