I recently purchased one of these DVD players and could not find a region hack for it. So after trying a few codes which belonged to other models I found one which works on this model too.

To set your Toshiba SD-170E to multi region follow these instructions:

Power On
Open Tray
Press 9879 0

(0 [at the end] stands for multi-region, you may press buttons 1 to 6 to choose specific regions [see the manual that came with the player//see below])

A Message appears stating that “The Reg.No was changed to: 0

Below are specific regional codes for SD-170EKB / SD-170EKE

0 - Unlocked - all
1 - USA & Canada regions
2 - UK & Europe regions
3 - Asia Pacific, Taiwan & Korea
4 - Australia, New Zealand & Latin America
5 - Russia & India regions
6 - China, Calcos Islands, Walls & Futuna Islands
