Update

22 Nov 2008 In: General, University, Web development

Before starting University I thought I’d have enough time left over to make atleast one post a week; how wrong I was!

Once again, apologies for the enormous time gaps between posts. I still can’t dive into too much detail regarding what I’ve been doing over the past two months. This is not due to the nature of what I’ve been doing but simply due to the amount of stuff I’ve been doing. I’d have to spend countless hours typing in order to tell you the full story.

Briefly on the future:

1) I’m currently in progress with setting up two societies in University. One will be a cultural society and the other an Engineering society.

2) I’m going to re-design this website (or get someone else to do it as I haven’t got the time!). I feel that this website no longer fits in with my needs. I require a website focusing on me from another angle.

Once again, apologies for the brief posts, hopefully the next post will be sometime mid-next week.

They call it: University life

4 Oct 2008 In: University

I’ve just finished staying my first week on campus. It’s been an excellent week in which I participated in many activities and met a range of new people!

The one particular thing I like about University is the opportunities that open up. As an example I’ve been presented with the chance to join ULOTC, ULAS and a bunch of rocket societies. As always I’ve still got a bunch of business plans in my brain, some of which are in progress as we speak. I’ll be keeping everything for now and revealing more as the time approaches.

Once again, apologies for the infrequent updates but there’s simply too much to write about and too little time. I might just make photo posts to give you an idea of whats going on.

Until another day, take care.

Where’s Varinder?

20 Sep 2008 In: University

Hi guys,

I’ve been recieving emails asking me where I am and what I’m up to. For this reason I thought I’d update you all on what’s been going on. The past few weeks have been extremely busy for me. I’ve been on work experience at Lycos.co.uk working in the Key Accounts department. My work experience placement will come to an end this Friday.

I’ve also been preparing for University. I’m moving out this Saturday (27th Sept). I’ve also had to learn a few additional recipes as a result of moving out.

And finally I’ve launched a new Internet business venture. All these points will be expanded on over the course of the next few weeks. I’ve also paused updating my “where’s Varinder” status on the calender page due to various mobile network problems which I am experiencing.

So, until next time - take care!

Google Chrome has been released!

2 Sep 2008 In: Web development

Earlier today Google released it’s new product, Google Chrome. Google Chrome has a new new JavaScript engine, V8,which not only speeds up today’s web applications. Chrome was created with the goal of dealing with today’s Internet which is very much utilised to stream videos, play games and run applications - not serve plain html web pages as was done in the “old days”.

The Google team also done a very good job of explaining the features and new technology in Chrome by creating the ‘Chrome Comic Book‘. This is the first time browsers have been explained to the public in this way.

Time, a limited resource

28 Aug 2008 In: General

OK so last night I was updating my Google calendar, when I took a few minutes to take a break and reflect on viewing my calendar. I come across the fact that over the past three months my schedule has become extremely busy. I often find myself out of time to complete the little things that I want to get done. Just reflecting on this it got me thinking about how I could improve my daily productivity? Perhaps longer hours awake might be the key? (Hmm.. maybe!)

After me sitting down and doing some number crunching I figured out that 8760 hours of my time was available per year (my goodness that is a lot). Given that I sleep the recommended 8 hours a day for 365 days, only 5840 hours are spent working. Perceptibly that equates me working 66.6% of the time.

…But how much of even those working hours are truly being spent working?
